Capital Breakfast DJ Roman Kemp has this week been announced as the new official co-host to Alex Jones, alongside Jermaine Jenas, on the BBC One’s The One Show.
Already familiar to viewers having joined the programmes presenting team as a guest host last year, Kemp begins his new role with immediate effect.
In a press release announcing the shows new line-up, 30-year-old Roman says: “I’m very excited to become a permanent presenter on The One Show, I have had so much fun filming with the team already over the past year on the sofa. It’s a dream-come true to be on prime-time BBC One, bringing the best topical news and entertainment to the nation.”
With Joanne Vaughan-Jones, Editor of The One Show, adding: “We’re thrilled to have Roman join us as a regular One Show host alongside Alex and Jermaine on the sofa. It’s an exciting new chapter for the show, and we’re looking forward to viewers seeing even more of Roman.”
Alongside the news of Kemp’s promotion, programme bosses have also revealed that Lauren Laverne has also been given a regular spot on the famous red sofa, whilst singer Ronan Keating will remain a “key part of The One Show family” and continue to host shows.
Commenting on his time on the show thus far, Keating says: “I have loved being part of The One Show presenting team and I’ve had the best few years working alongside Alex, Jermaine and the whole team. I’ll be doing less shows this year due to my performing, and recording schedule, but I’m still very much part of the family and wish Roman the best of luck.”
Other members of the programme’s “extended family of presenters” will continue to co-host episodes across the year, and Matt Allwright and Nikki Fox will continue with their hosting duties on Watchdog.
The One Show airs weekday evenings, at 7pm on BBC One.
